GUA AFRICA
Gua Africa's primary exempt purposes are the provision of instruction and training, the advancement of education, the relief of poverty and distress, the promotion of social welfare, and the promotion of health.  Gua Africa's specific mission is to improve the lives of children, young adults and families in sub-Saharan Africa affected by war, civil strife, disease and/or poverty.
Gua Africa expects to engage in the construction and operation of a rehabilitation and education center in Leer, Southern Sudan.  The purpose of the Center will be to provide free of charge, in a protective environment, living accommodations, training, therapy, and other support services, as well as opportunities for recreational, cultural, arts and athletic activities, to children who lost their families to, and are displaced by, the civil strife in Sudan, with the goal of making such children self-sufficient, productive members of society.

Gua Africa also expects to construct and operate a health care clinic in Leer offering medical and health care services, information and programs concerning the prevention and treatment of disease, pharmaceuticals, and medical supplies and equipment to members of the community, below cost or free of charge.

Gua Africa is currently operating a war survivors financial support program in Nairobi, Kenya, paying the living expenses and education related expenses of children and young adults who formerly served as child soldiers in, or are refugees of, the wars and civil strife in sub-Saharan Africa, and who are pursuing an education.

Gua Africa was founded by Emmanuel Jal, a former child soldier born in Souther Sudan and who at the age of 7 was recruited to serve in the SPLA.  He survived front line action and eventually managed to escape with 300 other "Lost Boys", enduring a 3 month trek on foot across sub-Saharan Africa.  He was rescued by Emman McCune, a British Aid Worker, who smuggled him to freedom in Kenya.  Emmanuel is now a world famous hip-hop/rap artist with a Number One record under his belt.  His journey is documented in a recent film "War Child" which has premiered at Film Festivals such as, Berlin, Tribeca, Seattle, Montreal, Edinburgh, Jackson Hole and others.

Emmanuel continues to work tirelessly with the United Nations, Amnesty International and Oxfam to campaign against child soldiers. He now fights the war through his words and music.
